COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Design BA (Hons) degree provides a structured and comprehensive approach to developing the creative, technical, and professional skills needed for a career in interior and spatial design. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as Context of Practice, Interior Design Principles, Design Process, and Interior Design Practice 1, introducing core concepts, design thinking, and practical skills in creating functional and aesthetically engaging spaces. The second year expands on this foundation with modules including Critical and Contextual Studies 1, Personal and Professional Practice 1, Collaborative Practice, and Interior Design Practice 2, enabling students to apply their knowledge in professional and collaborative settings, explore real-world briefs, and develop problem-solving and project management skills. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced modules such as Critical and Contextual Studies 2, Personal and Professional Practice 2, and a Major Project in Interior Design, allowing them to produce a substantial body of work that demonstrates their creative vision, technical expertise, and professional understanding. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to experiment with spatial planning, materials, lighting, and sustainability while developing a personal style and professional approach. Graduates are prepared for careers as interior designers, spatial planners, set designers, or roles in related design industries, equipped to contribute innovatively to contemporary interior design practice.
