COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film and Television Production BA (Hons) degree offers a comprehensive education in the creation of film and television content, combining technical training, creative practice, and critical analysis. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules in researching media industries, TV studio and location production, media contexts and debates, drama projects, and screenwriting, providing a strong grounding in both theory and practical production. The second year focuses on expanding creative and technical abilities, with opportunities to explore documentary production, experimental film, transmedia practice, short film projects, independent filmmaking, and critical television studies, encouraging students to engage with diverse forms and approaches within the industry. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced, hands-on projects, including research projects, live industry collaborations, and individual projects covering cinematography, production design, directing, production management, post-production, sound, and multicamera work. The course emphasizes independent and collaborative practice, preparing students to manage complex production processes and develop a distinctive creative voice. By combining practical experience with critical understanding, graduates are equipped to pursue careers across a wide range of roles in film and television, including directing, producing, cinematography, editing, and production management, with the skills and confidence to contribute effectively to the evolving and competitive media industry.
