COURSE CURRICULUM

The Animation degree is structured to build creative, technical, and professional skills progressively over three years. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of animation through modules such as Context of Practice, Animation Principles, Design Process, and Animation Practice 1. These modules focus on developing core technical abilities, creative thinking, and an understanding of visual storytelling and design. In the second year, the course encourages greater independence and collaboration through modules like Critical and Contextual Studies 1, Personal and Professional Practice 1, and Collaborative Practice. Students continue to advance their animation skills in Animation Practice 2, applying theoretical knowledge to more complex creative projects and group work. The third year is centred on preparing students for professional careers in the animation and creative industries. Modules such as Critical and Contextual Studies 2 and Personal and Professional Practice 2 help refine research and professional development skills, while the Animation Major Project serves as the culmination of the degree. This final project allows students to demonstrate their creative vision, technical mastery, and storytelling ability, resulting in a professional-quality portfolio or showreel that showcases their individual artistic identity and industry readiness.
