COURSE CURRICULUM

The Acting degree is structured across three years, offering a comprehensive blend of practical performance training and theoretical exploration. In the first year, students focus on developing core acting skills through modules such as Voice Workshop, Acting, Performance Methods, and Making Ensemble Performance. They also engage in ensemble and political performance projects while exploring key ideas that shape contemporary performance practice. The second year builds on these foundations with a diverse range of modules that deepen artistic and critical understanding. Students explore politically engaged and socially conscious performance through modules like Politically Engaged Practice 1 and 2, Politics and the Play, and Performance in Social Context. Creative and physical expression is further developed in areas such as Physical Theatre, Acting for Screen, Movement for Performance, and Site Specific Dance. Optional modules, including Writing after Beckett and Auto/biography and Performance, allow for individual artistic development. In the final year, students apply their learning to professional and independent projects, including a Dissertation, Company: Research and Development, Company: Commission and Actualisation, and an Independent Project in Acting. This structure ensures students graduate with both the creative and analytical skills needed for careers in performance and the wider arts industry.
