COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Development MSc provides a strong foundation in both the theory and practice of development, equipping students with the skills to address global challenges and contribute to sustainable solutions. Core modules such as Current Issues in International Development, Development Economics and Policy, and International Development Finance ensure students gain a critical understanding of the economic, political and social dimensions shaping development worldwide. Practical skills are built through modules like Managing Development Interventions, Managing Data, and Research Methods, preparing students to design, implement and evaluate projects effectively. The International Development Management Project allows learners to apply their knowledge to real-world issues, strengthening problem-solving, analytical and project management capabilities. With a growing emphasis on sustainability, the Sustainable Energy Policy module explores the intersection of development and environmental concerns, training graduates to navigate the pressing challenge of climate change in relation to growth. Students also have the option to tailor their studies through modules like Data Analysis or Managing International Projects, further enhancing their expertise in quantitative analysis or large-scale project delivery. Overall, the program blends academic insight with applied learning, preparing graduates for impactful careers in NGOs, international organisations, government agencies, and private sector roles linked to global development.
