COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data Analytics MSc is designed to equip students with the technical expertise, analytical skills, and strategic understanding required to harness the power of data in modern business contexts. Core modules provide a robust foundation, starting with Business Analytics, which introduces methods for interpreting complex datasets to inform decision-making and drive organisational performance. Data Mining and Machine Learning develop advanced skills in extracting meaningful patterns from large datasets and applying predictive models to solve practical business problems. Data Visualisation and Dashboarding focuses on translating complex analytical insights into clear, interactive visual formats that support effective communication with stakeholders, while Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence explores the design, management, and optimisation of data storage systems to enable efficient retrieval and analysis. The MSc Project allows students to apply their knowledge to a real-world or simulated business challenge, integrating technical skills with strategic insight. Optional modules such as Web and Social Media Analytics, Simulation Modelling, Data Repositories Principles and Tools, and Big Data Theory and Practice offer opportunities to specialise and gain deeper expertise in emerging areas of data analytics. Collectively, the program ensures graduates are highly competent in combining quantitative methods, data management, and business intelligence to support data-driven decision-making, preparing them for careers in analytics, business intelligence, and data science across a variety of industries.
