COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law and International Relations degree is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in both legal studies and global politics, while allowing flexibility to explore specialist areas. In the first year, core modules introduce key concepts in international relations, legal systems, private and public law, and the dynamics of international order, with options to study areas such as democracy, migration, rights, Islamic law, race and the law, and global governance. The second year builds on this foundation with compulsory modules in criminal law, global security, public international law, property law, and professional practice, alongside options covering dispute resolution, European law, climate change and the law, international political economy, human rights, social justice, and geopolitical debates. By the final year, the course focuses on advanced and applied topics, with core modules in ethics, world order, laws of occupation, and professional legal practice or research. A wide range of options allow students to specialize in areas such as counter-terrorism, humanitarian intervention, international criminal justice, human rights, law of trade and intellectual property, clinical legal practice, or regional politics and development. The structure ensures graduates are equipped with critical, analytical, and practical skills for careers in law, international relations, or global governance.
