COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology BSc provides a comprehensive education in the scientific study of the mind, behaviour, and mental health, combining theoretical knowledge with practical and research-based learning. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge across key areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, social psychology, and individual differences, alongside an introduction to psychological research methods. This first year establishes the critical thinking, analytical, and research skills necessary for more advanced study. Year 2 deepens understanding by exploring the brain, mind, and behaviour in more detail, examining emotional life, mechanisms of mind-body therapies, and societal responses to climate change. Students develop practical research skills and learn to apply psychological theory to real-world contexts, while also cultivating employability skills and understanding diversity in psychological practice. Year 3 allows students to specialise and focus on applied and advanced topics such as clinical psychology, cognitive disorders, consciousness, forensic psychology, health psychology, occupational psychology, political psychology, and music and the mind. Students undertake a major project, integrating theory, research, and practical skills, and explore counselling, psychotherapy, and educational psychology. The course equips graduates with a strong foundation for careers in psychology, counselling, education, research, and related fields, emphasizing ethical, cultural, and professional considerations throughout their studies.
