COURSE CURRICULUM

The FinTech and Financial Computing BSc provides a comprehensive education in both finance and technology, preparing students for careers in the rapidly evolving financial technology sector. In the first year, students are introduced to core principles including data analytics, financial theory, computational methods, and technology awareness. They develop foundational skills in business computing, financial analysis, entrepreneurship in FinTech, and gain familiarity with blockchain and cloud computing, enabling them to evaluate business information and solve complex problems. The second year focuses on advancing analytical and evaluative skills, allowing students to generate and assess ideas across a broad range of financial and technological contexts. Modules cover computational finance, business analysis, financial market microstructure, financial modelling and statistics, big data management, and cryptocurrencies, building both technical competence and industry insight. In the final year, students apply advanced techniques to analyse data, theories, and concepts, designing innovative and sustainable solutions to real-world financial challenges. They develop expertise in big data analytics, predictive business forecasting, international banking, investment and portfolio management, and machine learning. Throughout the course, students combine theoretical understanding with practical application, emerging as highly skilled professionals ready to thrive in FinTech, banking, investment analysis, financial consultancy, or to pursue further postgraduate study.
