COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security and Forensics BSc offers a comprehensive and practical approach to understanding and addressing the challenges of protecting digital systems and information. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in applied mathematics, programming, computer networks, and an introduction to cyber security and forensics, alongside exploring current trends in computer science. This prepares them for more specialised study and equips them with essential problem-solving and analytical skills. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied cryptography, digital forensics, network and web application security, risk management, IT governance, and machine learning, along with opportunities for professional experience and project-based learning. These modules develop technical expertise and a deeper understanding of both defensive and investigative approaches to cyber security. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through advanced topics such as cyber security threats and countermeasures, defensive programming, incident response, malware analysis, wireless network security, and applied artificial intelligence, culminating in a final-year project that integrates theory and practice. Across all three years, students engage with real-world scenarios and case studies, preparing them for dynamic and fast-evolving careers. Graduates emerge ready to enter roles in cyber security, digital forensics, information assurance, and related fields, equipped with the skills to protect organisations, governments, and individuals in an increasingly digital world.
