COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience degree provides a comprehensive exploration of the brain, behaviour, and mental processes through an interdisciplinary approach combining psychology and neuroscience. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge in key areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology, alongside individual differences and introductory research methods, establishing the basis for understanding brain-behaviour relationships. Year 2 expands on this foundation with modules focused on brain and cognition, systems neuroscience, cognitive and clinical research methods, medical physiology, and mind-body therapies, while also fostering employability skills and examining societal responses to contemporary challenges such as climate change. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics and specialized research, including clinical psychology, cognitive disorders, consciousness, neuropharmacology, and forensic, health, occupational, political, and educational psychology. Practical and research-focused modules, such as Advanced Research Techniques and the final project in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience, allow students to apply methodologies including brain imaging, computational modelling, and comparative cognition. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based understanding, analytical skills, and practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in research, clinical practice, healthcare, cognitive neuroscience, or other fields requiring expertise in brain function, behaviour, and mental processes, and providing a strong foundation for further postgraduate study.
