COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biological Sciences BSc is a three-year program that provides students with a broad and in-depth understanding of biological systems, preparing them for careers in research, medicine, science, education, and related fields. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core subjects such as Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, Cell Biology, Human Physiology, Fundamentals of Pharmacology, and Applications of Biological Sciences, while developing professional skills through modules like Science: History, Philosophy and Practice and Professional Development in Science. This year focuses on establishing essential laboratory techniques and theoretical knowledge. In the second year, students advance into specialized areas including Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neuroscience, Metabolic Biochemistry, Human Parasitology, Medical Physiology, Bioinformatics, Contemporary Challenges in Biology, Exploring the Microbial World, and Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics, alongside developing research skills through Research Methods. The third year emphasizes applied and advanced study, covering Applied Biotechnology, Applied Medical Science, Cancer Biology, Gene Editing and Genomics, Medical Microbiology in the Genomics Era, Life: Origins and Evolution, Designing a Sustainable World, and Global Ethics. Students also undertake a Final Year Project in Life Sciences, integrating their learning and research experience. The program equips graduates with scientific expertise, analytical and practical skills, and professional competencies, enabling them to pursue diverse career opportunities or further postgraduate study.
