COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biochemistry BSc is a comprehensive three-year program that equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for careers in pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and biotechnology sectors. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core modules including Biochemistry, Biological Chemistry, Cell Biology, Human Physiology, Fundamentals of Pharmacology, Applications of Biological Sciences, and Science: History, Philosophy and Practice, alongside professional development skills. This year introduces essential laboratory techniques and scientific principles, preparing students for more advanced study. In the second year, the focus expands to include specialized topics such as Genetics in Medicine, Molecular Biology, Metabolic Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Experimental and Therapeutic Pharmacology, Proteins and Enzymes, Human Parasitology, Bioinformatics, and Contemporary Global Challenges in Biology. Students also develop research skills through modules on molecular and cellular therapeutics, medical physiology, and research methods, applying practical knowledge to real-world biological problems. The final year emphasizes advanced study and application, covering Cancer Biology, Drug Discovery, Pharmaceutical Drug Design and Development, Gene Editing and Genomics, Applied Biotechnology, Advanced Physiology and Pharmacology, Life: Origins and Evolution, Global Ethics, and Designing a Sustainable World. Students complete a Final Year Project in Life Sciences, integrating theory and practice. Graduates gain the expertise, analytical skills, and professional competencies necessary to pursue careers as research scientists, laboratory specialists, or further postgraduate study.
