COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology BSc offers a progressive three-year program that combines creative design, technical expertise, and professional practice to prepare students for careers in the built environment. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Design Practice, Design Studio 1, and Technologies of Architecture, alongside studies in building science, structures, and construction technology. This stage focuses on developing practical and conceptual understanding, enabling students to approach architectural challenges with creativity and analytical thinking. In the second year, the program advances technical and professional knowledge, covering construction engineering technology, structural principles, and project procurement, management, and law. Students continue to refine their design capabilities in Design Studio 2 while deepening their understanding of architectural technologies, preparing them for real-world project management and construction challenges. In the final year, students engage with advanced design and professional practice through Design Studio 3 and modules such as sustainable design, building pathology, and construction technology and innovation. The Sustainable Design and Technology Research Project allows students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent research skills. Overall, the course equips graduates with a comprehensive skill set in design, technology, and management, readying them for careers in architectural technology, construction consultancy, project management, or further postgraduate study.
