COURSE CURRICULUM

The Television Production BA at Westminster provides a comprehensive, practice-based education designed to equip students with both creative and technical expertise in television. In the first year, students gain foundational skills across all aspects of production, including camerawork, editing, lighting, sound, production management, and scriptwriting. They apply these skills in projects such as documentaries and studio work while exploring the history, aesthetics, and distribution of television content, along with audience engagement and new media. Optional modules allow students to broaden their knowledge and tailor their learning. In the second year, students build on this foundation by working in teams across different television genres, developing both practical and managerial skills. Theory modules support critical analysis and reflective practice, with opportunities to specialise in areas such as drama, studio production, advertising, branded content, and short-form video. Students also engage with contemporary issues like celebrity culture, diversity, and identity in media. The third year focuses on consolidating skills through major projects, where students manage the content, production, and distribution of their work, while completing a dissertation or independent research project.
