COURSE CURRICULUM

The Spanish and International Communication BA is designed to develop students’ proficiency in the Spanish language and their understanding of Spanish culture, while equipping them with professional communication skills for global contexts. In the first year, students build a foundation in intercultural and interpersonal communication, explore language and culture, and engage with translation, material culture, and world varieties of English, providing a broad understanding of linguistic and cultural diversity. In the second year, the focus shifts to analyzing cultural representation, identity, and the social use of language, alongside collaborative projects and in-depth exploration of Spanish culture, which deepen students’ critical and analytical skills. The final year emphasizes professional application and independent study through a major project, preparing students for real-world challenges in international communication. Students also examine mediation in international contexts, multilingualism, professional communication practices, and contemporary cultural issues, while opportunities for work placements enhance practical experience. Across all three years, the program fosters linguistic competence, cultural awareness, and the ability to communicate effectively in diverse global settings. By combining academic study with professional practice, the degree prepares graduates for careers in international business, media, translation, diplomacy, and other fields requiring intercultural communication expertise and cultural literacy.
