COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Production, Performance and Business BA is structured to provide students with a comprehensive education across creative, technical, and professional aspects of the music industry. In Year 1, students develop foundational skills in artist development, music production, songwriting, and collaboration, while also exploring diverse musical cultures such as Bass Cultures and the African Diaspora. Core business concepts, including music publishing and entrepreneurship, are introduced to provide an understanding of the industry’s structure and operations. In Year 2, the course builds on these foundations with a focus on real-world application, including funding and investment readiness, live performance collaboration, composing for media, digital content creation, and synchronisation with brands. Modules in music marketing and work-based learning further enhance professional skills and employability. By Year 3, students refine advanced creative and technical skills through modules in advanced audio production, advanced songwriting, performing with technology, and cultural identity in music and audiovisual work. Professional development is reinforced through music law, rights and contracts, entrepreneurship, freelance practice, and data analytics in the music industry. The final year also includes a major project and research essay, enabling students to consolidate their learning, showcase their strengths, and demonstrate their creative, analytical, and business capabilities. Graduates are equipped to pursue careers as performers, producers, entrepreneurs, or professionals across multiple sectors of the music industry.
