COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interior Architecture BA at Westminster guides students through a comprehensive exploration of design, combining historical, cultural, technical, and practical knowledge over three years. In the first year, students build foundational skills, studying the history of architecture and cultural contexts, as well as developing core design abilities through modules in design fundamentals, strategies, and materials and technologies for interior architecture. This establishes a strong base in both theory and practice, preparing students to engage with spatial design creatively and critically. In the second year, the course expands to include architectural history and urbanism, exhibition design, and design studies focused on culture, alteration, materials, and detail. Students also develop independent research skills through a dissertation in cultural context, and explore dynamic forms of communication via time-based media, broadening their understanding of how interiors interact with people and environments. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge and skills through advanced modules, including interior practices, spatial narratives, and a thesis project, alongside a final cultural context dissertation. This year emphasizes professional readiness, creative autonomy, and critical thinking, allowing students to produce innovative, sustainable, and socially responsive interior architecture designs. By integrating history, theory, technical skill, and experimentation, the program equips graduates with the expertise and vision to transform existing spaces into engaging, functional, and inspiring interiors.
