COURSE CURRICULUM

The Games Design BA provides students with the creative and technical expertise needed to develop immersive and engaging games. In the first year, the course introduces foundational skills through core modules such as 2D Game Art and Design, 3D Asset Creation, Game Engines and Mechanics, Environment Art and Design, and Creative Industry Skills. Students can also broaden their learning with optional modules including 2D Computer Animation, Drawing Explorations, and Typographic Explorations. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced game design techniques, with core modules covering Collaborative Game Development, Interactive Texts and Narratives, Level and Experience Design, and System and Mechanic Design. Optional modules allow students to explore additional creative and technical areas such as UX/UI Design, Extended Reality, Concepting for Games, Visual Storytelling, VFX for Film and Games, and Web Design, encouraging experimentation and professional development. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge and skills through core modules in Game Production and Enterprise, a Major Project in Games Design, and Professional Practice, which prepare them for industry-ready work. Optional modules such as Designing Narrative Experiences, Critical Enquiry for Creatives, Digital Arts Experimentation, and Entrepreneurship for Creatives enable further specialization. The course emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and technical proficiency, equipping graduates to succeed as games designers in a dynamic and evolving industry.
