COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Photography BA at Westminster provides a comprehensive, hands-on education in photographic practice, combining technical expertise, creative exploration, and professional development. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in essential photographic techniques, concepts, and theories, covering areas such as street photography, fashion photography, documentary, and immersive approaches. This year also allows students the flexibility to consider pathways between Photography and Fashion Photography, fostering early clarity in their chosen focus. The second year encourages experimentation and boundary-pushing in photographic practice, introducing students to video, emerging technologies, camera-less photography, and alternative processes. Opportunities for work placements, collaborative projects, interdisciplinary engagement, exhibitions, and study abroad experiences provide real-world exposure and professional development. Students further refine their creative voice, engage with fashion studio photography, and explore photobooks, magazines, and networked photographic media. In the final year, students undertake two major self-directed projects: a Fashion Photography Final Project for public exhibition and a Research Project. These projects are supported through workshops, tutorials, and critiques, emphasizing both creative and professional skills. Additional modules such as Professional Futures and Planning a Campaign prepare students for careers in fashion photography, editorial work, digital media, or related creative industries, equipping graduates with confidence, technical expertise, and a distinctive visual voice.
