COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resource Management BA is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to manage people and organisations effectively in a contemporary business environment. In Year 1, students are introduced to the functions of business organisations, the global business environment, and key management skills such as accounting, economics, marketing, and organisational behaviour. They develop a foundational understanding of business operations, decision-making, and ethical considerations, supported by modules in accounting and finance, business analytics, marketing in practice, fundamentals of organisational behaviour, and the global business environment, with the option to broaden learning through elective modules. Year 2 builds on this foundation with a specialist focus on human resource management, exploring business operations, performance management, and people management from traditional and digital perspectives. Core subjects include HRM essentials, digital business and operations management, managing and leading people, management decision-making, sociology of work and industry, and work and organisational psychology, alongside optional modules from across the University. In Year 3, students apply critical and reflective approaches to strategic HR challenges, learning to handle contemporary issues such as conflict, organisational change, and recruitment and retention strategies. Modules cover talent assessment and development, coaching and mentoring, employment law, cultural differences in people management, leadership, and strategic perspectives, while also offering the opportunity for electives and foreign language study, culminating in research into strategic HR topics.
