COURSE CURRICULUM

The Arabic and International Relations course offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends the study of global politics with in-depth language and cultural training. In the first year, students are introduced to core themes such as international relations, global politics, and democracy, alongside modules in language, culture, and material studies, as well as an introduction to the Arab world. The second year builds on this foundation with a focus on contemporary global issues, including geopolitics, global security, Middle East politics, and the politics of violence. Alongside these, students continue to strengthen their Arabic language and cultural knowledge through modules like expressions of Arabic culture and multilingual collaborations. The third year advances this learning with a focus on specialist areas such as energy and development in the Middle East and Central Asia, foreign policy and diplomacy, postcolonial politics, and ethics in world order. Students also complete a final-year project and can gain professional experience through a work placement. By combining critical perspectives on international politics with cultural and linguistic expertise, this course prepares graduates for careers in diplomacy, global governance, international NGOs, policy research, journalism, and other fields requiring cross-cultural understanding and analytical insight.
