COURSE CURRICULUM

The Arabic and International Communication BA offers a structured progression across three years, combining the study of Arabic language and culture with international communication skills. In the first year, students build a foundation in language and cultural studies through modules such as interpersonal and intercultural communication, the study of language and culture, and world varieties of English. They also explore the Arab world alongside the social and cultural significance of material objects, developing early analytical and interpretive skills. The second year encourages deeper engagement with representation, identity, and cultural expression, with modules on Arabic culture, language in the public space, and multilingual collaboration on current affairs. This stage strengthens students’ understanding of how communication operates across diverse contexts, while focusing on Arabic cultural and linguistic perspectives. In the final year, students work on a major independent project and explore advanced topics such as mediation in international contexts, multilingualism, and professional communication in global settings. Opportunities for work placements add practical experience to their academic learning. By integrating Arabic studies with international communication, the course prepares graduates with linguistic fluency, cultural insight, and transferable communication skills, equipping them for careers in global business, diplomacy, media, cultural industries, or further academic study.
