COURSE CURRICULUM

The Animation degree is structured to build creative, technical, and professional expertise across three years, gradually increasing independence and innovation. In Year 1, students are introduced to core concepts in animation and visual design through modules such as 2D computer animation, storytelling, and narrative, as well as creative industry skills. They also explore approaches to animation theory while engaging in research, experimentation, and collaborative projects, with options to study game art, drawing, or typography. In Year 2, the course emphasises individual responsibility, encouraging students to develop their own animation style and submit work to external competitions and festivals. Core modules include 3D animation, documentary animation, collaborative practice, and VFX for film and games, with optional areas like branding, stop-motion, extended reality, or UX/UI design to broaden technical expertise. By Year 3, students focus on self-directed projects through modules such as Innovation in Animation, Major Project, and Professional Practice, preparing them for professional work or postgraduate study. They refine their creative identity while building a strong portfolio suitable for careers in animation, film, gaming, advertising, or digital media. Optional modules in entrepreneurship, narrative design, or experimental image making further enhance career readiness and creative versatility.
