COURSE CURRICULUM

The program offers an in-depth exploration of the management of practical and critical issues in events, blending theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Students will study core modules such as Digital Branding, Critical Event Studies, Creative Research, Politics and Policy in Events and Tourism, and Practical Issues in Events, each worth 20 credits. These modules cover a range of subjects, including the politics and policies surrounding events, branding strategies, and the key practical issues that arise within the events industry. The program utilizes various teaching methods, including lectures, recorded conversations with industry practitioners, and workshops to foster interactive learning. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning through case studies, student-led presentations, and practical tasks. Assessment involves a variety of methods such as written reports, case studies, portfolios, and presentations, which mirror the types of work students will encounter in their careers. Additionally, students can choose 20 credits worth of optional modules from topics like Content and Media Management, Digital Marketing Theory, and Future Marketing & Transformational Tech. Upon successful completion of the PgDip, students can proceed to the master's dissertation, selecting between the Marketing, Events and Tourism Dissertation or the Developing Professional Practice Project, both worth 60 credits. This combination of core and optional modules ensures that students gain a comprehensive understanding of the events industry while developing essential research and practical skills.
