COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing offers a balanced approach between theoretical learning and practice-based experience, ensuring that students gain the knowledge and skills required for leadership roles in public health. The program focuses on the health care needs of individuals, communities, and populations within each specific field of practice, with core modules tailored to each specialization. The course adopts a values-based model driven by social justice and human rights, providing a collaborative learning environment that encourages students to co-design their learning journey. Students engage in authentic learning methods and work-based learning to integrate theory and practice effectively. The program promotes critical reflection in safe spaces, helping students examine their values and beliefs to develop socially responsible practices. Graduates will be equipped to lead and manage public health initiatives and work collaboratively with health and social care professionals. Students can exit with an MSc in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing in one of three fields: Health Visiting, School Nursing, or Occupational Health Nursing, and will be eligible for NMC registration upon successful completion of the PgDip core modules, the MSc Dissertation (60 credits), and the NMC standards of proficiency for public health nurses.
