COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Politics and Social Justice program is designed with flexibility in mind, offering both part-time and full-time study options through a blend of on-campus and online learning. The course structure includes five core 20-credit modules and one optional module, followed by a 60-credit research dissertation. At the Postgraduate Diploma stage, students study key areas such as Policy Analysis and Practice, The State, Globalisation and Social Justice, Applied Research Methods in Social Sciences, Contemporary Social Issues, and Politics, Civil Society and Social Justice. In addition to these core modules, students choose one optional 20-credit module based on their interests and module availability, allowing for some degree of specialisation. Students who complete the taught stage but do not progress to the dissertation can exit with a Postgraduate Diploma award. To achieve the full master’s degree, students must complete an extended dissertation, where they design and undertake independent research focused on a specific topic within politics and social justice. This project is completed under academic supervision and provides an opportunity to develop advanced research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Overall, the program equips students with a strong understanding of political systems, globalisation, and social justice issues, preparing them for careers in policy, research, and international or non-governmental organisations.
