COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Biotechnology program offers a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in key areas such as microbiology, immunology, and cell culture. The program is delivered over three terms for full-time students (with longer duration for part-time students) and offers flexibility depending on the start date (September or January). The full-time award involves two terms of three taught modules (each worth 20 credits) across terms 1 and 2, followed by a 60-credit experimental research project module in term 3. Core modules for the MSc Biotechnology include Nucleic Acid & Protein Technology, Research Design, Advanced Laboratory Techniques, Bioanalysis, Microbial Technology, and Research & Commercialisation in Biotechnology (each worth 20 credits). The program culminates in the MSc Biotechnology Research Project Dissertation worth 60 credits. Upon successful completion of these modules, students will be awarded the MSc Biotechnology. For those interested in pursuing a Professional Practice element, an additional core module, Professional Practice (60 credits), can be completed over one extra term following the completion of the MSc.
