COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) at UWS is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of public administration, governance, and policy making, requiring students to complete 180 credits for the full qualification. All students undertake three core modules, which together account for 120 credits: Comparative Public Administration and Management, Comparative Public Policy Process and Issues, and a Professional Project. These core modules equip students with the knowledge and practical skills to analyse and manage public organizations, assess policy development and implementation, and undertake applied or research-focused projects relevant to contemporary public administration. In addition, students select two optional modules from a broad menu of 30-credit options, allowing them to tailor the program to their career interests and priorities. Optional modules address critical areas such as management and leadership in public organizations, collaborative governance, gender and social policy, international migration, sustainable development goals, comparative infrastructure policy, environmental governance, and the principles of international political economy. Students who complete 120 credits may exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration or Combined Studies, while 60-credit completion allows for a Postgraduate Certificate exit. This flexible structure ensures that students gain both theoretical and applied expertise, fostering leadership, strategic thinking, and policy analysis skills, while supporting career progression in national and international public administration, governance, and policy-making roles.
