COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security BEng (Hons) program is structured across multiple levels, combining foundational computing knowledge with advanced security specialisation. At the early stage, students study core topics such as web development, networking fundamentals through CCNA, programming, computing systems, security basics, mathematics, and professional development. As they progress to the next level, the focus shifts to more technical areas including database development, operating systems, ethical hacking techniques, and Linux system administration. In the following stage, students deepen their expertise with modules in programming for cyber security, advanced networking concepts such as routing and wireless systems, and further mathematical and programming applications. At Level 9, the curriculum emphasises professional and research skills alongside specialised subjects such as cryptography, digital forensic analysis, and systems programming. Students also have the opportunity to choose optional modules, allowing them to explore areas like Unix system administration, CyberOps, and web application security testing. In the final honours year, students undertake a major computing project while studying advanced topics such as secure programming, digital forensics, and governance, risk, and compliance. Overall, the program provides a comprehensive progression from fundamental computing skills to advanced cyber security expertise, preparing graduates for professional roles in the field.
