COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computing Science BSc (Hons) degree is structured over four years, gradually developing students’ technical knowledge and practical skills in computing. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of software development, including programming in a modern language and the creation of basic applications, providing a strong foundation for future study. In Year 2, the course builds on this knowledge with a focus on object-oriented analysis and design, while also introducing software modelling tools and modern development environments. Students begin studying databases and gain an understanding of how web-based and mobile applications are developed. In Year 3, learners further enhance their technical expertise, particularly in web service development and applications, as well as the database systems that support them. This stage emphasizes applying knowledge to more complex and practical computing scenarios. In Year 4, the honours year, students have the opportunity to specialise in areas of personal interest, deepening their understanding of advanced topics. A key component of this year is the completion of a substantial individual project, allowing students to demonstrate their skills in research, problem-solving, and software development, preparing them for professional roles in the computing industry.
