COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Games Development BSc (Hons) program is structured over four years to develop students’ technical, creative, and professional skills in game development. In the first year, students are introduced to the games industry and the fundamentals of game development, including modelling, animation, and programming, while also learning how to use game engines to create basic games. The second year builds on this foundation by deepening knowledge of programming and development using industry-standard tools such as Unity 3D and Unreal Engine, alongside learning game design principles and the creation and use of game assets. By the end of this year, students begin producing games suitable for inclusion in their professional portfolios. In the third year, the focus shifts to advanced programming techniques and industry-focused skills, with students working collaboratively on a year-long project to design and develop a complete 3D game, as well as exploring mobile game development. In the final honours year, students complete an individual project that showcases their abilities through a major portfolio piece, while also extending their knowledge in areas such as level design, educational games, and advanced web-based game development, preparing them for careers in the games industry.
