COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Animation Arts BSc (Hons) program is structured over four years to progressively develop students’ artistic and technical skills in animation. In the first year, students focus on the fundamental principles of animation, including planning and practical application, while learning how to use computer tools for artistic representation and working with both 2D and 3D animation techniques. The second year builds on this foundation, allowing students to further refine their skills in animation, planning, and production, with continued development in both 2D and 3D work. In the third year, the program shifts towards more advanced topics, including modelling and texturing techniques, as well as independent and specialist project work. Students also begin producing a professional demo reel and explore scripting for automation and simulation, enhancing both their creative and technical abilities. In the final year, students complete a major project that showcases their skills and supports their transition into employment. They also study areas such as acting for character animation and virtual environments, which help bring animated work to life. Overall, the course provides a structured progression from basic principles to advanced practice, preparing students for careers in animation and related industries.
