COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Applied Bioscience program is structured over four years, providing a progressive development of knowledge and practical skills across a range of biological disciplines. In year one, students are introduced to core areas of bioscience, including cell and molecular biology, ecology, and environmental science, while also exploring the role of a bioscientist and potential career pathways. Year two builds on this foundation by focusing on more specialised subjects such as cell biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, microbiology, and genetics, helping students develop a deeper scientific understanding. In year three, students have the opportunity to specialise further by choosing advanced modules in areas such as molecular biology, immunology, human physiology, and parasitology. This year also offers valuable work-related learning, including the option of a placement in a laboratory setting within industries such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare, which enhances practical experience and employability. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge and undertake a supervised research project in a chosen area of interest, applying the skills they have developed throughout the course. Overall, the program combines theoretical study, practical training, and real-world experience to prepare graduates for careers in bioscience and related fields.
