COURSE CURRICULUM

The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence BSc (Hons) program is structured over four years to progressively build strong foundations in computing, data analysis, and advanced AI techniques. In Year 1, students are introduced to core concepts such as programming, software engineering, database systems, applied mathematics, and data analysis, alongside personal development through the ASPIRE module. Year 2 develops these skills further with intermediate programming, data structures and algorithms, probability and statistics, and an introduction to network and cloud computing, as well as practical software engineering experience. In Year 3, the focus shifts to more specialised and professional topics, including research methods, DevOps, data science fundamentals, data visualisation, cloud architectures, and statistical inference, helping students gain deeper technical and analytical expertise. By Year 4, students engage with advanced subjects such as data engineering, artificial intelligence applications, big data, advanced machine learning, and decision support systems. A key component of the final year is the computing honours project, where students apply their knowledge to a real-world problem. Overall, the program equips students with a comprehensive skill set in programming, data handling, and AI technologies, preparing them for careers in data science, machine learning, and related fields.
