COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Adult Nursing program is structured over four years, combining academic study with extensive clinical practice to develop competent and professional nurses. In year one, students complete foundational theory and practice modules, gaining 120 credits and undertaking 560 hours of clinical placement. They study core topics such as adult nursing essentials, biosciences, and values in care, alongside practical modules assessed in real healthcare settings. Year two builds on this with more advanced modules in health promotion, diversity, and professional development, alongside increased clinical experience of 840 hours, further strengthening practical skills and confidence. In year three, students focus on leadership, holistic care, and applying evidence to practice, while completing up to 920 hours of clinical placement, or fewer hours for those on the Honours pathway. Honours students follow a slightly adjusted practice structure, with part of their placement extended into the fourth year. The final year is specific to Honours students and includes advanced study through a dissertation, teaching in practice, and optional specialist modules such as dementia care or complex adult care, alongside additional clinical placement. Throughout the program, learning is delivered through a blended approach combining theory and practice, with assessments including coursework, exams, and clinical evaluations by practicing nurses.
