COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Education program is structured over four years to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical teaching skills for primary education. In Years 1 and 2, students engage in school placements that provide valuable insight into the role of a teacher and the wider network of professionals involved in the education and care of children and young people. These early placements help students understand classroom dynamics, teaching practices, and the support systems necessary for effective learning. In Years 3 and 4, students build on this foundation by enhancing their theoretical understanding of education alongside the practical skills required to lead learning in primary school settings. During this stage, students focus on developing professional competencies, including lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment strategies, while also exploring pedagogical approaches that support inclusive education. Opportunities to undertake placements in Additional Support Needs schools allow students to gain experience in supporting diverse learners and adapting teaching methods to meet individual requirements. Throughout the program, the integration of academic study with extensive practical experience ensures that graduates are well-prepared to enter the teaching profession with confidence, equipped to provide high-quality education and make a positive impact on the development and learning of all pupils.
