COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Automotive Engineering program includes a range of specialised modules that develop advanced technical knowledge and professional skills related to modern vehicle design, performance, and management. Students study Aerodynamics of Ground Vehicles to understand how airflow affects vehicle efficiency, stability, and fuel consumption. The Alternative Fuels and Combustion Modelling module explores new fuel technologies and combustion processes aimed at reducing emissions and improving sustainability. Automotive Sector Management and Business provides insight into the business and organisational aspects of the automotive industry. Engineering design topics are covered through modules such as Body in White Structures and Structural Component Analysis, which focus on vehicle structural design and strength. Students also study Energy Storage and Control Systems, examining technologies such as batteries and control systems used in modern and electric vehicles. Materials and Life Cycle Analysis helps students understand material selection, durability, and environmental impact across a vehicle’s lifespan. Non-Destructive Testing introduces techniques used to inspect components without damaging them, ensuring quality and safety. Vehicle Dynamics and NVH focuses on ride comfort, vibration, and noise control, while Research Methods prepares students to conduct technical investigations and analyse engineering data. The program concludes with a major Master’s Project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to a real automotive engineering challenge. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive understanding of advanced automotive engineering principles and industry practices.
