COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Design Crafts – Contemporary Dialogues program includes several compulsory modules that guide students through the development of their creative practice and critical understanding of contemporary craft. The Coexistent Perspectives module introduces students to different viewpoints within craft and design, encouraging them to examine how materials, ideas, and cultural contexts influence creative work. In The Thought Experiment module, students explore experimental approaches to design, allowing them to test new ideas, techniques, and concepts while expanding their creative thinking. Collaborative Dialogues focuses on teamwork and shared learning, where students work with others to exchange ideas, discuss creative processes, and develop projects through collaboration. A major part of the course is the Explorative Research and Praxis module, which supports students in conducting in-depth research and experimentation with materials such as ceramics, glass, metals, and textiles. This module encourages the integration of both traditional handmade techniques and digital processes to develop innovative craft practices. The program concludes with Confirmative Praxis, where students refine and finalise their individual creative projects. During this stage, they prepare work for a student-led exhibition that showcases their personal design approach and practical achievements. Alongside the exhibition, students produce a critical report reflecting on their research, creative development, and contribution to contemporary craft practice.
