COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Illustration – Contemporary Dialogues program includes several compulsory modules designed to develop students’ creative practice, research abilities, and critical understanding of contemporary illustration. The Coexistent Perspectives module encourages students to explore a range of cultural, social, and artistic viewpoints that influence modern illustration. This helps students understand how different contexts shape visual communication and creative expression. The Thought Experiment module focuses on conceptual development, allowing students to test new ideas and explore experimental approaches while connecting theory with practical illustration work. Collaborative Dialogues highlights the value of discussion, critique, and teamwork, encouraging students to share ideas and work alongside peers from various creative disciplines. This collaboration helps broaden perspectives and supports the development of communication and professional skills. A significant part of the program is Explorative Research and Praxis, where students conduct in-depth research and experiment with different materials, techniques, and visual strategies. This stage supports the discovery of individual artistic direction and encourages innovation in illustration practice. Confirmative Praxis builds on this exploration by guiding students in refining their concepts and producing a substantial body of work that demonstrates their technical skills and creative development. Together, these modules allow students to integrate research, theory, and practical experimentation while building a strong portfolio that reflects their personal style and prepares them for professional careers in illustration and the wider creative industries.
