COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Equity and Diversity in Society includes several modules that help students explore the causes of inequality and develop strategies to promote fairness and inclusion. The Political: Influences on Inequality and Diversity module examines how political systems, policies, and institutions influence social inequality and shape opportunities for different groups in society. The Social (Re)Production of Inequality focuses on how inequality is created and maintained through social structures, cultural practices, and economic systems across generations. In Dismantling Barriers to Equality, students explore issues related to gender, ethnicity, race, youth and age, health, disability, and vulnerable groups, while learning approaches to reduce discrimination and support equal opportunities. The Sustainable Communities module studies how inclusive and supportive communities can be developed through social responsibility, participation, and long-term planning. The Philosophy and Practice of Social Research introduces students to research methods and critical thinking skills used to study social issues and evaluate policies. Managing Professional Practice in Advocacy focuses on developing professional skills needed to support individuals and communities, including communication, ethical practice, and advocacy strategies. The program concludes with a Dissertation, where students conduct independent research on a topic related to equity, diversity, or social inequality. This project allows them to apply theoretical knowledge and research skills to examine real-world challenges and contribute meaningful insights into improving equality and inclusion in society.
