COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law with Criminology program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive understanding of law and its interaction with crime and society. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of legal knowledge and criminological theories, studying criminal law, tort law, the legal process, and the social, political, and behavioural dynamics of crime. This year focuses on building essential analytical and research skills, equipping students with a strong understanding of key legal concepts. The second year develops this foundation further, examining crime, justice, and punishment, while exploring the legal consequences of criminal activity. Students study tort law, contract law, family law, public law, and research preparation, refining their critical thinking and practical research abilities. The final year focuses on complex legal situations and specialised topics, including equity and trusts, property law, crime and vulnerability, and gender, race, religion, and crime. Students also complete a dissertation, applying their knowledge to real-world problems and developing practical solutions. Throughout the program, the combination of law and criminology provides a broad and nuanced perspective on the legal system, crime, and societal responses. Graduates leave with the analytical, practical, and professional skills required for careers in law, criminal justice, policing, probation, youth justice, public policy, or related sectors, fully prepared for diverse professional opportunities.
