COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing in Games Development with Foundation Year is structured over four years to provide a comprehensive pathway into the games and software development industries. The foundation year introduces students to essential skills, including problem-solving, computer programming, computer systems, mathematics and science, academic skills, and an integrating project, establishing a strong base for future study. In the second year, students progress to core topics in software development, computer architecture and operating systems, network and cybersecurity essentials, learning in the digital era, game design and history, and mathematics, building both technical and industry-focused knowledge. The third year focuses on advanced games development, software engineering, and creative application, with modules such as advanced software development, games architecture and mechanics, software engineering principles and testing, indie game development, data security and compliance, and creativity and value creation. In the final year, students specialise and apply their expertise through major projects, studying artificial intelligence and machine learning, graphics and games programming, GPU programming, emerging trends, and an independent project, allowing them to create a professional portfolio. By the end of the program, graduates possess the technical skills, creative knowledge, and practical experience required to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to the design, development, and implementation of complex games and software within the industry.
