COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sport and Exercise Science program provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for careers in sport, health, and fitness. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of human movement and wellbeing, studying modules in kinesiology, exercise psychology, sport psychology, human physiology, and nutrition, while gaining practical experience in soft tissue skills and exercise training for gym instruction and personal training. This year also builds academic skills to support independent learning and professional development. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced study and application, covering exercise physiology, biomechanics, sport psychology, and the psychology of physical activity behaviour. Students also engage in research methods and professional development, enabling them to critically assess scientific evidence and apply it to health and exercise settings. The final year consolidates learning and emphasizes independent study, with an independent project allowing students to investigate a specific area in depth. Advanced exercise physiology, nutrition for sport, and exercise for specific populations further refine practical and theoretical expertise. Optional modules such as work placements and advanced coaching provide valuable industry experience. Graduates leave the program with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to pursue careers in fitness, health promotion, coaching, or further postgraduate study.
