COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Events and International Festivals Management program, students are introduced to the fundamental concepts of event management and the wider tourism, leisure, and hospitality industries. They develop essential academic, digital, and industry skills while learning about marketing, social media, and the management of tourism and events organisations. Modules also explore hospitality and guest service management, as well as the structure and impact of the tourism, events, and leisure industry. Students gain practical insight through an events and festivals placement, which helps them understand real event operations and the role events play in local economies. In the second year, students expand their knowledge of event marketing, production, and operational management. They study international travel operations, sustainable tourism and events, and operations management while also developing research skills through field studies. Practical modules such as a live events project and a professional placement with an enterprise project allow students to plan and deliver events while gaining valuable industry experience. In the final year, students focus on advanced areas of event and tourism management. Modules examine festivals, conventions, global sport and tourism events, crisis management, and strategic management within the industry. Students also complete an independent project, allowing them to research a topic of interest and apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the program, preparing them for professional careers in the events sector.
