COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Construction Management program is structured to progressively develop students’ knowledge and practical skills across three years. In the first year, students study the fundamental aspects of construction technology and materials while gaining digital skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM). Additional modules cover professional practice, digital surveying, highway design, building services, health and safety, law for the built environment, engineering and construction surveying, and procurement processes, providing a broad foundation in construction principles. In the second year, students advance their knowledge through modules such as Building Information Modelling, construction technology, contract administration, building services integration, and sustainable development. This stage also includes research project design and optional modules such as project planning for construction or retrofit coordination and management, allowing students to explore specialised areas. In the final year, students apply their knowledge through an independent research project and an integrated project that brings together technical, managerial, and practical skills. Advanced modules such as advanced project management, advanced construction technology, site management, and building conservation, asset and facilities management prepare students for leadership roles within the construction industry. The program combines theoretical understanding with applied learning, equipping graduates with the professional, technical, and managerial skills required to successfully manage modern construction projects.
