COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Software Engineering program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive and practical foundation in software development, programming, and software engineering principles. In the first year, students focus on core concepts, including software development, computer architecture and operating systems, web and database fundamentals, network and cybersecurity essentials, mathematics, and learning in the digital era. This year develops problem-solving skills and provides hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies, forming a solid base for more advanced study. In the second year, students advance their expertise in operating systems, software engineering principles and testing, advanced software development, databases application development, network operating systems and services, data security and compliance, and creativity and value creation. These modules emphasise both technical skills and professional practice, preparing students to manage and develop complex software systems. The final year allows students to specialise in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud-based web services, socket programming and concurrency, and industry-relevant emerging trends. An independent project provides the opportunity to apply knowledge to solve real-world problems, demonstrating both technical competence and professional readiness. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with a strong technical foundation, practical experience, and professional skills, enabling them to pursue careers in software development, system architecture, or technology-driven industries.
