COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing in Games Development is structured over three years to provide a progressive and practical learning experience in game design, software development, and computer graphics. In the first year, students build a foundation in software development, programming, computer architecture, network and cybersecurity essentials, game design and history, mathematics, and learning in the digital era. These modules introduce core concepts such as game mechanics, basic animation, and project management while developing lifelong learning skills. The second year advances students’ knowledge in games development techniques, complex software design, and interactive elements. Compulsory modules include advanced software development, games architecture and mechanics, software engineering principles and testing, indie game development, data security and compliance, and creativity and value creation. This year also emphasises collaborative projects, enhancing teamwork and project management skills. In the final year, students specialise in areas of interest, applying their technical expertise to major projects and creating a professional portfolio that reflects industry standards. Modules cover artificial intelligence and machine learning, graphics and games programming, GPU programming, emerging trends, and an independent project. By the end of the course, graduates are equipped with the technical skills, practical experience, and creative expertise needed for careers in games programming, game design, software development, or further study within the dynamic games industry.
