COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity is structured over three years to provide a progressive and practical learning experience. In the first year, students focus on the fundamentals of networking technologies, software development, and data analysis, alongside basic visualisation and introductory forensics. Modules such as data analysis and visualisation, software development, computer architecture, web and database concepts, network and cybersecurity essentials, and learning in the digital era establish a strong foundation for more advanced topics. The second year builds on this knowledge with a deeper focus on network administration, infrastructure, and security. Students engage in practical tasks while studying network operating systems and services, advanced networking, network programmability, computer forensics, and data security and compliance, alongside modules designed to develop creativity, value creation, and professional skills. In the final year, the program emphasizes advanced cybersecurity, emerging trends, and complex networking solutions. Students complete an independent project in their chosen area, while also studying switching, routing and wireless networks, enterprise networking, security and automation, industrial-based research, and advanced cybersecurity, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. By the end of the course, graduates are equipped with the technical expertise, practical experience, and problem-solving skills needed for professional roles in network administration, cybersecurity, and IT security management.
