COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Business Management degree with a Placement Year at UWTSD Swansea is structured to provide a progressive learning experience over four years. In Year 1, students complete six compulsory 20-credit modules covering fundamental business and management topics, including digital learning, entrepreneurial innovation, finance, marketing, people and organisations, and the changing business environment. Year 2 builds on this foundation with seven compulsory modules such as creativity and value creation, personal branding for sustainable employment, marketing in practice, financial performance management, contract law, professional placement or volunteerism, and digital intelligence, while students also have the option to undertake an international mobility opportunity for 60 credits. Year 3 is dedicated to a core placement year, providing practical industry experience through a sandwich placement assessed on a pass/fail basis, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world business settings. Year 4 focuses on advanced business skills and research, with compulsory modules including an independent project, contemporary issues in management, global ethics, leading and developing people, and strategic management and sustainability. This structure combines theoretical learning, practical experience, and personal development, ensuring that graduates acquire comprehensive business knowledge, applied skills, and industry exposure, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in national and global business environments.
